Revolut Pro for sole traders in Slovakia: accounts, cashback and eKasa

Can a Slovak sole trader use Revolut Pro with an LT IBAN? A practical guide to account reporting, cashback, statements, eKasa and transaction tax in 2026.

Can a sole trader in Slovakia use Revolut Pro as a business account even though it does not have a Slovak IBAN? This question also appears regularly in our Accquix Bot. Here is how a foreign account, cashback and the related accounting obligations work under the rules applicable in 2026.

Short answer: yes. Revolut Pro is designed for self-employed people, sole traders and small independent businesses. A Lithuanian LT IBAN does not, by itself, prevent you from using the account for business in Slovakia. You should separate business transactions, report the account if you are VAT-registered, and provide your accountant with complete statements that include cashback.

Revolut Pro is not Revolut Business

Revolut Pro is a separate business account inside your personal Revolut app. It gives you a separate IBAN and card that can be used for business income and expenses.

It is intended for natural persons who conduct business. It is not intended for an s.r.o. company or another legal entity. A company needs Revolut Business or another bank account held in the legal entity’s name.

This distinction is also important for statements, available features and Slovak financial transaction tax.

Can a Slovak sole trader use a foreign IBAN?

Yes. A Slovak sole trader may use an account held with a foreign payment service provider for business. The account does not need to have a Slovak SK IBAN. Revolut commonly provides a Lithuanian LT IBAN, while other services may use an IBAN from another SEPA country.

For an ordinary sole trader who is not VAT-registered, merely opening a foreign business account does not generally create a separate obligation to report the account number to the Slovak Financial Administration.

A different rule applies to a VAT-registered business. It must report all domestic and foreign accounts used for business to the Slovak Financial Administration without delay. The notification is filed electronically using the form linked to Section 6 of the Slovak VAT Act. Changes and account closures must also be reported.

In practice, if you become VAT-registered later, remember to include Revolut Pro among your reported business accounts.

Revolut Pro cashback belongs in your records

Revolut Pro offers cashback on eligible business card payments. The base rate depends on your plan, and Revolut may increase it according to the volume of payments you accept. This means that 1% does not apply automatically to every account and every transaction.

Cashback should not be ignored in your records. When it relates to business expenses, it affects the tax base. Depending on the accounting method used, it may be recorded as taxable income or as a reduction of the related expense. In simple records, it is often treated as income affecting the tax base. Whichever treatment is selected should be consistent and supported by the records.

For example, if you pay €1,000 of business expenses and Revolut credits €10 of cashback, the accounting records must also capture the €10. Providing only the card-payment list is not sufficient.

Which statements are available from Revolut Pro?

Statements from accounts in the personal Revolut app are available in PDF or Excel format. Revolut Pro may therefore not provide the bank XML statement that some Slovak accounting applications can import directly.

This may require manual preparation or processing of CSV or Excel data. Ask your accountant in advance which format they require and whether they can import the transactions without manually re-entering them. Accquix processes these data flows automatically within the agreed fixed scope of service.

Be careful not to confuse the products: the separate Revolut Business product supports XML Camt.053 and MT940. That does not mean the same export is automatically available in Revolut Pro.

Tap to Pay, payment terminals and eKasa

Revolut Pro supports in-person payments through Tap to Pay on iPhone. Previously purchased Revolut Readers can still be used, but Revolut no longer sells them. Current alternatives include Tap to Pay and Revolut Terminal.

These tools replace the method used to accept a card payment, not the fiscal recording of the sale. If your sale is legally subject to recording in the Slovak eKasa system, a card payment must be recorded in the same way as another reportable receipt. The free VRP2 application is one available option.

Not every bank payment of an invoice is automatically subject to eKasa. The nature of the sale and the payment method matter, so an unusual payment model should be reviewed separately.

Does Pay by Square work with an LT IBAN?

Yes. A Pay by Square payment QR code can contain a foreign SEPA IBAN, including a Revolut account. Your invoicing application must be able to encode that IBAN correctly, and the account details on the invoice must match it.

Pay by Square is simply a convenient way for the customer to populate a bank transfer. It does not change the accounting or potential eKasa obligations of the transaction itself.

Financial transaction tax from 2026

From 1 January 2026, a natural-person entrepreneur is no longer subject to Slovak financial transaction tax. December 2025 was the final tax period for sole traders. From 2026, the law also no longer requires a sole trader to hold a dedicated transaction account.

Financial transaction tax remains in place for legal entities such as s.r.o. companies. A legal entity cannot use Revolut Pro, however, so a company must meet its obligations through a corporate account and correctly configured transaction-tax processing.

Practical conclusion

Revolut Pro can be a suitable business account for a Slovak sole trader. Before the first transaction, set up three things:

  1. use the Pro account only for business transactions;
  2. if you are VAT-registered, report the account to the Slovak Financial Administration without delay;
  3. agree the statement format and cashback treatment with your accountant.

This gives you the advantages of a modern account without allowing a convenient app to become an accounting problem at year-end.
