Accquix
Etsy and Shopify accounting

Accounting for Etsy sellers, Shopify stores and print-on-demand businesses

Digital products, physical goods, platforms and VAT rules do not all work the same way.

Accquix helps Slovak sellers understand how Etsy, Shopify and print-on-demand providers such as Prodigi affect bookkeeping, §7a, OSS, IOSS and monthly document workflows.

For modern online sellers

Built for shops that mix products, platforms and countries.

Your business may look simple from the storefront, but accounting changes depending on what you sell, where you sell it and who is responsible for VAT.

One shop can contain four different VAT scenarios.

Digital products on Etsy, physical products on Etsy, digital products on Shopify and physical products on Shopify can each create different accounting and VAT treatment. The goal is not to memorize VAT law. The goal is to set up the workflow correctly.

Setup first

We map the business model before choosing the accounting workflow.

Pricing and scope should follow the real transaction pattern: product type, sales channel, customer location, shipping chain and expected volume.

1

Map your sales channels

We separate Etsy and Shopify sales because marketplace rules and standalone store rules are not identical.

2

Split digital and physical products

Digital downloads, templates and physical goods can each trigger different VAT logic and document requirements.

3

Check logistics and thresholds

We review the €10,000 EU threshold, OSS exposure and whether the production or shipping chain creates IOSS questions.

4

Create the monthly document flow

You send bank statements, Etsy, Shopify and Prodigi reports, fee invoices and other expenses. We process the accounting and filings.

Common scenarios

Each sales flow needs its own treatment.

Digital products sold through Etsy

For EU consumers, Etsy generally acts as the marketplace responsible for collecting and remitting VAT. You still need income records and Etsy fee documents.

Physical products sold through Etsy

Below the €10,000 EU cross-border B2C threshold, OSS is generally not required. Once the threshold is exceeded, OSS registration becomes necessary.

Digital products sold through Shopify

Shopify is only an e-commerce platform. You remain responsible for VAT obligations, including OSS once the EU threshold is exceeded.

Physical products sold through Shopify

The VAT treatment depends heavily on where the goods are produced and shipped from. EU production facilities and non-EU direct shipments can lead to different conclusions.

Our role is to set up the process, tell you what documents we need, monitor deadlines and keep your bookkeeping up to date.
